GAME Checkpoint Program
Gaming Accessibility Made for Everyone

We created the GAME Checkpoints Program to help organizations build accessible gaming spaces that fit their community. Many centres told us they wanted to support gamers with disabilities but needed guidance on equipment, setup, and training. Since 2022, we have worked with clinics, community hubs, schools, and game developers to create welcoming spaces where gamers with disabilities can explore adaptive gaming and find the equipment that works best for them.
What is a Checkpoint?
The program provides training and assistive technology recommendations to help organizations begin or expand their game accessibility efforts. Its mission is to increase opportunities for Canadians to experience adaptive gaming in their communities and understand which assistive technologies can help them play in the way that works best for them.
Once a centre has a range of adaptive gaming equipment and training, the centre becomes an official Checkpoint.

What Becoming a Checkpoint Means
Funding
We help you identify which equipment to prioritize when building your space. We also share grant resources so you can find and apply for local funding in your area.
Equipment setup
We support you in selecting, organizing, and setting up adaptive gaming equipment for your space.
In-person training
We offer hands-on training that covers everything from getting started with the equipment to understanding how to match each gamer with the right solution. This is a paid service, and we can help you determine pricing if you are interested.
Ongoing support
You gain access to a community platform where Checkpoints can connect, ask questions, and collaborate at any time. We also host quarterly meetings with mini training sessions, opportunities to troubleshoot challenges together, and space to share successes.
