Owner

Joel

Primary User

People who need assistance to fetch their dice after rolling

Intended Use

Allow the feel of actually rolling dice for people who can't fully do it on their own.

Description

Need: A way for a D&D player with limited grip and limited arm movement to roll real dice and get them back in front of himself without someone picking them up.

Current setup: He can lift a slightly oversized die onto a ramp. The ramp dumps into a felt tray. The tray is bumpy (only partly fastened), and someone else has to fetch the die and put it back for the next roll.

Idea: A fixed C-shaped tray wall, open toward the player, with a rotating floor (lazy Susan) inside it. A ramp mounts to the fixed back wall and dumps onto the rotating floor. After the roll is read, the floor is turned so the die rides around the wall to the open “home” pocket in front of him.

He wants to still do the roll himself. A basic version can be spun by hand (his, or a neighbor’s). A motorized spin would be optional later — not a fully automatic roller. The point is to keep the physical dice and the act of rolling.
