Application FAQs

You will first need to make an account on Makers Making Change Login which will allow you to access your application and the full Makers Making Change website. The application can be started and saved to be completed later. If the application has been started but is not submitted after two weeks, you will receive an email reminder asking you to complete the application.

Here are the steps for Clubs That Care approval:

1. Create an account with Makers Making Change to access application

2. Complete online application with references

3. Receive notification of application approval via email

4. Complete interview with MMC Staff member and ID Verification

5. Receive notice of micro-grant approval

6. Complete grant commitment letter to receive funds, provide financial information for funding and SIN for T4A Slip for tax purposes

7. Receive funding to begin club activities and purchasing

Leaders need to be between the ages of 15 to 30; a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status and be living in Canada.

If you are successful with your application, you are expected to have recruited or engaged 10 other members to your club and make and deliver 20 assistive devices. It is also mandatory to complete reports via an online portal after your events and activities that detail the number of people who have attended and how many devices were made.

Age of majority is different for each Canadian province. Being under the age of majority does not affect your application, but we will need a parent/guardian signature when processing your payment and completing your funding commitment letter. Your province’s age of majority and more information can be found at this website. 

It is up to you if you want to complete this section and self-identify in any of these categories. These questions are asked as we want to prioritize and track underserved groups as defined by the Canada Services Corps funding to the best of our ability.

Your application should include as much information or planning as you can, however we understand that you may not have fully completed plans at the time of application and that plans may change after application. We can be a resource for you in planning, but your application should include the intentions for your club for what devices you may want to build, groups or places that may receive devices, recruiting other club members, and what materials and supplies you may want to purchase.

We do not need a detailed budget but including some ideas of what you would like to purchase makes a strong application. Please check out some of the other club leader resources including maker material list and the build list of materials provided for each device in our device library. We have some examples of build ideas in the event examples resource.

The application will ask for three references. These references can be teachers, employers, community members, from volunteer opportunities or anyone who can speak to your responsibilities and intentions. We will be contacting references with brief questions, please let your references know you are sharing their contact information.

After completion, you will receive email notification whether you are moving forward to the next step which is an interview. If your application is not approved, you will also receive notification by email.
