Event Focus: Low Tech Devices

Low-tech assistive devices, are often solderless 3d printed designs. Some designs just require the print and others also require hardware. These devices are designed to support individuals in daily tasks like opening bottles, holding writing aids and clipping nails. When looking at what devices you want to print think about your audience some great examples of places that could possibly benefit from low tech are schools, libraries or seniors homes. It would also be helpful to ask if they have any preference to colour for their prints.
Some examples from the assistive devices library are:

Steps to find the files you need to build a device
  1. Ensure you are logged into your mmc account
  2. Click the assistive devices tab of the website
  3. Search your build example: bottle opener
  4. Click into the device and scroll until you find the project link.
  5. Click the project link, if the project is on GitHub you will find
    1. Build Files: This is where you will find the 3D print materials
    2. Documentation: This is where you will find the Maker/Assembly Guide and the Bill of Materials (BOM)
