Outreach Tips

A way to help you know what devices to build with your club is to find out from your community if there are any needs for devices.
  1. Talk with teachers/professors to see if they have any suggestions on places in the community that could benefit from an adaptive device
  2. Brainstorm other places in the community that could use adaptive devices: Assistive Technology Support Staff/ Rehab Centers/ Hospitals/ Seniors Home
  3. Use outreach email below to talk with community members.

Hi

My name is (your name). I am a new club that care leader through the makers making change program.
Makers Making Change is a program of Neil Squire that offers an online platform providing a disruptively low-cost alternative to commercially available assistive technologies. With a wide range of devices available in the assistive devices library, there are many options for people to request from and work with a volunteer maker who can build it for them. We are working to run an event in our community. I was wondering if there are some devices from their library that you or the community you work with could benefit from?

Please reach out to me to discuss further.
