Watch the Makey Makey Therapeutic Exercise Show and Tell
The Makey Makey for Therapeutic Exercise Show and Tell was a blast! This past January, 15 disability professionals from different areas of expertise, showcased their therapeutic inventions. Led by Occupational Therapist Katie Butzu and Technology Integration Specialist Mark Lyons, we learned how the Makey Makey can be used in a therapeutic setting.
What Did We Learn?
- How to use the Makey Makey to output sounds, control videos, games and more!
- Where to find simple online games that are easy and fun to use with a switch that involve no coding.
- How to use the Makey Makey for virtual therapy sessions
- How to use the program Scratch to code simple actions (ex: on switch press make X sound)
- How to create a low tech switch out of cardboard, tinfoil and bubble wrap and adjust pressure sensitivity
Working with Makey Makey and a group of passionate and talented disability professionals has been a rewarding experience. So many ideas and such amazing projects came out of our time together.
