Device Information

Overview

A sip-and-puff switch is a battery powered device that enables a user to control a device by using their mouth to “sip”(inhale) or “puff”(exhale) on a straw, tube or wand. It is primarily used by people with limited or no limb movement. The Sip and Puff Switch can be connected directly to up to two switch-accessible devices with 3.5 mm jacks or to a computer or smartphone using a suitable switch interface. The sip and puff sensitivity can be adjusted.

How To Use

The device has the option for two outputs, one of which is activated when the users sips on the straw, and the other is activated when the user puffs on the straw. This can be connected to the same device or to separate devices using a 3.5 mm cable. Find more detailed information in the devices User Guide.

Disability Type Description

Users who use assistive switches or utilize sip and puff technologies may benefit from this device. Switch users often have movement-limiting disabilities like spinal cord injuries, muscular dystrophy, ALS, among others.
