Device Information

Overview

The Open Wobble Switch is a cost effective, open source assistive switch similar to commercially available Wobble Switches. Users may find this switch easier than a standard push switch as the wand can be activated in any direction and with various body parts like the limbs, head, and foot. It is also available with a range of differently shaped and sized interchangeable toppers.

The Open Wobble Switch requires approximately 0.55 N (55 grams-force) and about 24 mm travel to activate, though this will vary depending on the topper attached.

This switch includes a 3.5 mm mono plug that can be connected to phones, computers, adapted toys, gaming consoles, and more. It also comes with a mounting bracket with a female 1/4-inch-20 thread for the switch to be mounted on a camera mounting system.

How To Use

Plug the 3.5 mm plug on the Open Wobble Switch into the port of an assistive device. A switch adapter may be required.

To change the 3D printed topper, rotate the piece counterclockwise and screw on the desired style.

Activate the switch by deflecting the wand away from its center resting position. The switch will deactivate automatically when it returns to the center resting position.

Disability Type Description

Switch users with movement-limiting disabilities like spinal cord injuries, muscular dystrophy, ALS, among others may find this device useful. This switch style is particularly good for users with large gross movements or high strength.
