Overview

A battery interrupter allows users to use an assistive switch with battery-operated devices without modifying the device's internal electronics. This a low cost version of a battery interrupter, while others exist like the Flex PCB Battery Interrupter. This device can be used with AAA, AA, C, or D sized batteries and is inserted between the battery and battery terminal. This device is often used to create adapted toys.

How To Use

Insert the interrupter either between two batteries or between a battery and a battery terminal. The interrupter jack will sit outside of the battery enclosure so an assistive switch can be plugged in. Be sure to leave the device in the ON position at all times.

Disability Type Description

People who use assistive switches may benefit from using battery interrupters. Switch users often have movement-limiting disabilities like spinal cord injuries, muscular dystrophy, ALS, among others.
