Device Information

Overview

A battery interrupter allows users to use an assistive switch with battery-operated toys and devices without having to modify the device's internal electronic. This device can be used with AAA, AA, C, or D sized batteries and is inserted between the battery and battery terminal.


Note: This design utilizes a custom PCB. Therefore, it may not be cost effective for small quantities (< 50). If you need a small quantity of battery interrupters, the Battery Interrupter (Soldered) design is likely a better option.

How To Use

Trim the battery interrupter with scissors to match the size of the battery and insert it either between two batteries or between a battery and a battery terminal. The interrupter jack will sit outside of the battery enclosure so an assistive switch can be plugged in. Be sure to leave the device in the ON position at all times. People who use assistive switches may benefit from using battery interrupters. Switch users often have movement-limiting disabilities like spinal cord injuries, muscular dystrophy, ALS, among others.
